When a split is really a win

Things are again looking very precarious for Hillary Clinton after Tuesday's primaries. Hillary Clinton did manage to split by winning Indiana but overall the night belonged to Barack Obama as he easily won North Carolina and increased his delegate and popular vote lead. Most pundits are now saying the race is essentially over and even Clinton supporter George McGovern has now suggested that she leave the race. My central focus last night was on how the tr Venus transiting over the Obama campaign chart's ascendant would manifest. Since this was a clear signal for happiness and rewards for Obama, I thought it might have meant a sweep for him. As it turned out, he did basically carry the evening by increasing his delegate and vote lead and stopped whatever momentum Hillary had as a result of the Wright controversy. Clearly, that campaign chart is correct and is a good barometer of how things are going. The Clinton win in IN also gave her reason to fight on and therefore also fulfills my prediction that Howard Dean would be somewhat frustrated by the events of last night (including the tardy Lake county results), as he seeks to end the race as soon as possible and avoid a damaging fight at the convention in August.

It's no secret that the coming days are going to be difficult for Hillary. She's had to loan her campaign $6.4 million to keep it going. There will likely be more superdelegates coming out for Obama to further increase the pressure on her to drop out. The astrological signs support this picture of a difficult time for her. A few dates stand out. First, I see that tr Mars and tr Moon will oppose the Sun in her campaign chart on May 10, which suggests conflict and stress from authority figures. This may manifest as a significant endorsement for Obama ahead of the West Virginia primary on May 13. Interestingly, this coincides with tr Mercury aspecting the natal Jupiter which can indicate some major news development. While not necessarily unfavourable, since it coincides with the Mars-Sun aspect, I don't see this as helpful to Hillary. It is conceivable there may be a silver lining here, although I wouldn't bet on it.

The other key date is the primary itself on May 13. There will be a rather close planetary alignment that day which features the Sun in a square to the nodes, Rahu and Ketu. And remember that Neptune is conjunct Rahu so that's essentially a four-planet pattern. The problem for Hillary is that this t-square is configured closely with her 1-7 axis (ascendant-descendant). While this is not inherently bad, the tr Sun will receive the exact aspect of her 10th house natal Saturn that night. While Saturn has some strength to bring fame by virtue of its 10th house placement, this square aspect is often a difficult energy to handle and often indicate loss (Saturn) of ego and vitality (Sun). Moreover, the tr Sun will conjoin Hillary's natal Rahu, which also tends to be problematic and speaks of situations that cause upset or are disruptive. Another potentially unhelpful aspect is formed by tr. 8th lord Mars which squares her natal Sun. While this infuses energy and combativeness, the square aspect is usually too much to deal with and since Mars is her 8th lord of obstacles and anxiety, this is a another clue that the evening will not go well. Of course, in Hillary's chart, Mars is placed in the 10th house of status and fame, so there is some kind of a boost in status here. But collectively, these planets suggest poor results.

On Obama's side, the picture is better. In his natal chart, on May 13, tr Sun and tr Jupiter form a grand trine with his natal Mars. This is a powerful and almost always positive pattern that is what one would expect for a victory. It's true that tr Mars is conjunct his Mercury so there will be some rancour and intense competition that day, but this is in keeping with a closely-fought election race. In his campaign chart, he is currently enjoying the fruits of a Jupiter station on his Midheaven (unequal 10th house cusp). This station (reversal of planetary direction) occurs on the 9th and will be trined by tr Sun on the 13th. This is a very significant marker for a successful endeavour. It's hard to see the outcome as anything but an Obama victory in West Virginia.

Since this is supposed to be a Hillary-friendly state, this may be part of an endgame that will play itself out in the coming days. It's worth noting that the grand trine that Obama's chart has with the Sun-Jupiter aspect is also seen in the chart of the Democratic Party since their Mars' are conjunct around 27-29 Leo. This likely reflects the Obama victory and the momentum he will gain when the party begins to rally to him. The grand trine is repeated a few days later on May 18th as Venus takes the place of the Sun. This may be another significant date in the campaign and may represent another boost for Obama and a further sense of resolution and calming in the party.

So is there any way Hillary can win this thing now? There's no question the short term astrological indicators look very challenging for her. From a purely political perspective, I don't know how she could possibly withstand another defeat and stay in the race. So I think there is a very real chance that she will pull out, either on the 13th or perhaps on the 18th. This isn't likely mind you, just a reflection of how difficult the transits at that time will be for her. I realize this makes mincemeat of my prediction that she would win, but given the forces aligned against her, this is going to be a very difficult time for her. Can she pull a rabbit out of her hat? I don't see this happening in the next couple of weeks. And yet I feel that the unresolved issues of Florida and Michigan will somehow continue to haunt this race. Early August appears to be a key moment where events and conflicts may overtake the campaign. Tr Saturn opposes natal Mercury in the Obama campaign chart suggesting obstacles or disappointments while Ketu conjoins the Uranus in the Democratic Party chart indicating possible sudden disruptive events. It's also possible that these patterns reflect Democrat setbacks in the election vs. the Republicans. Regardless, the convention promises to be lively to say the least.

What really makes me think that something hasn't been resolved yet is that the chart of Democratic Party is so troubled (May 13, 1792, shown at right). This makes me wonder what sort of new and unpredictable scenario may emerge between here to November. I note that in the spring of 1968, tr Pluto conjoined the natal Mars (27 Leo) of the Democratic Party chart. This coincided with the tumult within the party that arose after President Johnson refused to seek re-election in the wake of the ongoing protests against the Vietnam War. As a result, the race opened up to include anti-war candidates Robert Kennedy and Eugene McCarthy. While RFK was assassinated, McCarthy ending up losing to pro-war Hubert Humphrey in a brokered convention where party insiders ruled the day. To cut to the chase: in November, Saturn and Uranus will form an opposition just two degrees from that Mars, with Saturn forming the conjunction. While this is a different energy than Pluto, it is still very disruptive and suggests that struggles and conflict will dog the party for most of the campaign. In fact, this almost looks like the party itself will be in turmoil near election day, and probably not just because of what transpires at the polls. It's hard to imagine what sort of unusual development this may indicate, but several options are possible, including the possibility that the Democrats will not be united. Saturn and Uranus are like opposites -- the rigid structure of tradition coming in contact with an indomitable Promethean energy. Moreover they are trying to find an accommodation through Mars, the planet of aggression and action. It's a tension-filled trinity of planets that will rule the US in November. One thing is for sure: this will not be a routine election from here on in. I will post more updates as time allows.

What happened to you see "Obama dropping out"? Where'd that go?

Hi Chris, you've been right in your recent prediction. I guess you're refining your earlier prediction based on current events. As you mentioned before, it's not done often enough in astrology, and this is not exact and differs from your earlier hunch and confidence that HRC will win.

I don't know what's going to happen, however, I don't see Hillary quitting unless Obama gets the 2025 delegates. He needs to accumulate 172 more delegates toward the 2025 that's currently needed, based on the DNC rules which exclude MI and FL (if they included MI and FL that number would be 2200 something).

Anyway, I think she has enough invested to stay in. Huckabee kept going until John McCain got to the magic number. This is the first election I felt as though the republicans have an easier nomination process than the democrats.

Again, I don't know what the future holds, if WV is not decisive for Hillary, then there's a chance he'll pickup enough SD's to put him over the top to win the nomination. Otherwise, if there's another development such as the Wright issue, it will stall his momentum once more.

This will definitely leave some bad taste for a lot of people who belong to the democratic party. Obama was the least experienced of all the candidates to run for the democratic nomination (ever). At a time when we need experience to deal with domestic and global issues, it seems we're going to nominate a rookie who claims he has foreign policy experience and judgement because he grew up in Indonesia, has relatives in Africa and is viewed favorably by leaders around the world.

Something else worth noting for HRC supporters: if you count MI and FL, Hillary is the only female in history to run for the democratic nomination and get this many votes (even FDR doesn't come close) and constantly against Obama's popularity and momentum and "movement" for change. If she loses, I don't anticipate she'll run again and I don't expect anyone else to be able to top that in my lifetime. The bar seems certainly higher for women (as Hillary is obviously aware now).

It's a depressing scene for Hillary's supporters, Chris.

Thank you for your close scrutiny of those charts.

If, as you suspect, she loses West Virginia (and Kentucky?) that would be the end for sure. It would mean that people had given up on her due to last night's results, and what the pundits have said.

Someone on TV said last night that the Obama camp has agreed to discuss the Florida and Michigan problem after 20 May (presumably when they don't matter to Obama's side any more because he expects to be so near to the magic numbers).

In spite of the way things have developed, I still just cannot see a President Obama - not this time around. I just cannot - gut feeling again. There has to be another twist in the road -- somewhere.

This all is very concerning and almost too much for my heart and soul to take in. Doesn't sound like Hillary has that 70% chance anymore. Fast forward to November election and and Inauguration Day. What does Hillary and Obama's charts show those days? Can you see anything that would indicate one of them is elected?

Anonymous said...

I think you're right, things are going to get complicated (especially because she hasn't pulled her Florida and Michigan trump cards yet).

I do however think that transiting Ketu conjunct (within 1-3 degrees of) her natal Saturn in her 10th house of career cannot be ignored as portending a very difficult month or so. Saturn + Ketu are just a tough, depressing, insecure mix, esp. without there being any extra super benefic aspect going on to offset it.

Still it's a weird election and that being said, anything can happen.

Miss America said...

What still baffles me is how do you go from seeing HRC with a
"70%" liklihood of being elected president and Obama dropping out in May/June, to...(drumroll) Obama gets the nomination--when nothing has changed in their charts?!? Where is the accuracy in this Vedic astrology reading? Everytime there's a major change, you have a new read of the chart. Is there no concern for consistency and accuracy in a reading? Isn't that the art and science of reading. If everyone just agrees saying, "Yeah, things change," then really, what is the point of a reading at all?

Getty1206 said...

Agree, Miss America, that I am having a hard time understanding how she goes from 70% chance to dropping out. Now he has the great chance and now SHE is dropping out. Wasn't the difficult month seen prior to this? What alignment that showed her 70% chance of the nomination suddenly disappearing? How could the charts for both seem to reverse so suddenly??

miss america -- I think I addressed your concerns previously but I'll give it another shot here.

I never claimed I could predict everything in the future. At best, I might be able to provide some extra dimension of insight that adds something to conventional thinking. Sometimes I got it right and sometimes I got it wrong. Reading astrological charts is not an exact science. Far from it. It's really a web of probabilities at best and it creates situations where interpretive errors are common. I know I have made my share of mistakes. This is not unlike how financial analysts attempt to predict the stock market where there are an large number of variables. And like market analysts, I try to incorporate new information into my interpretation of chart. That's why my predictions may change somewhat over time. Perhaps the trick is to know one's limitations.

Obviously, I goofed in predicting that Obama would be dropping out of the race in May. I also mistakenly thought Hillary would win Maine, as I recall. There are many other errors I could mention. This is one reason why it is hard to evaluate the worth of astrology. You have some hits, but then there are so many misses, too. Rare is an astrologer who gets it right all or even most of the time. That's why many people have concluded that there's nothing to it. It's just all type 1 error: seeing patterns where there are none. I don't this this is the case, but it's a subtle thing. Again, I think the value of astrology may lie in knowing how to deploy it judiciously, as an added layer of information besides more mundane sources. It doesn't trump it, but rather complements it.

Christopher Kevill said...

getty -- There's a very simple explanation: I just didn't read the charts right. Predicting the future with a horoscope is a bit like trying to speak a foreign language for the first time without the benefit of a dictionary. There's a fair amount of groping in the dark. I do feel badly that I may have been mistaken about this race, and yet at the same time, I don't think it's over yet. There are other tensions in the charts that have yet to play out. At this point, however, I'm not sure how it is all going to play out.

Thanks, Chris. Chris, have you at least looked at Obama, McCain and Clinton charts at election day and inauguration day and tell us what you see? Those days MUST tell you something about how this will all likely end, doesn't it?

mcbaby said...

Chris, thank you for sharing your insights with us. sometimes things can look very certain in the distance. so certain in fact that you don't notice the potholes in the road that take you to that destination. you made a firm prediction of how you saw the big picture and you might have backtracked while trying to explain the bumps in the road. I myself have had incredible hunches that i had to follow up on yet whenever i doubted those initial feelings I failed.
Hillary will not give up. She is a fighter and you have to really think, has she ever quit? She might seem defeated but she is not. Has Obama won any major states besides N Carolina or Illinois? No. There are super delegates who will not support Obama. I sometimes supplement astrology with tarot when i need clarify transits that don't "click"
I did a Tarot spread on the last primary and it showed success for Indiana but it also displayed a draw overall. It was a victory and a loss for both candidates that night. last month, Obama was ahead in the polls in both states and everyone in the media including the clinton camp said obama would win N carolina. this was all part of the plan. But she did win Indiana which everyone said would be the game changer. i did a spread for the next primaries and it shows still a close race overall. a loss seems indicated in possibly two states and a win in one. But it still will be very close. I have asked repeatedly when i do spreads for august and November and over and over the same result. a woman champion. There is also major changes in these spreads shown by tower card.. chaos in democratic party and definate overhaul of elections.
have you ever heard of michelle whitedove? she is a psychic who won america's psychic challenge. you should read her blog: http://www.michellewhitedove.com/Blog-PresidentialPredictionsUpdate2008.php
she predicted back in jan that obama would be ther frontrunner but he wouldnt get the party's nomination.

Whether you call astrology an art or a science it does not matter. Vedic claims to be dramatically more accurate than Western. But the overall purpose of having accurate "Guides" who properly use this tool is to gain "Accurate" insight into the pragmatic events of your (one's) life, SPECIFICALLY for the purposes of being able to make the best decisions at the time. It matters completely that the readings are accurate. There is a big difference in saying, for example, someone will lose by small % and they end up losing a huge percentage. The overall prediction/read was accurate: They lost. As opposed to saying someone is in the best position of all to win, and win a critical achievement in their life/nation's history--and then revising that to: No, that person is not only going to lose but drop out and resign. I disagree with you. It is a predictive tool and it matters everything that the signs and indicators are read accurately. And the reason it matters is because an enlightened guide knows they can cause actual damage to someone's life if they give false, misleading, or incorrect guidance. Be it the I Ching, Vedic Astrology, Tarot, or Psychics, the entire point is to get the prediction right.

She was strong and beautiful and had an even much bigger presence than she even has now. And the people of the US were very happy (even ENAMOURED!) with her. It was joyful.
I can't let go of what I saw and felt. So, yes, Mark and all others, we must fight on!!

Chris, I think you are great. Specially the way you honestly described the changes in the chart.

I came across this website when I was searching for clear and honest astrology on that race.I had my own reading done too. as I was doing my reading (Coffee, Tea, dream) I tried to stay focus and not make a mistake to assume that Hillary the brand name is going to win because it is a safe prediction. I always had a different vision. I always saw a new movement or time looking very positive coming our way.
I am surprised now when I realized this is a pro-Hillary blog.
My god the media is right, the race is so long that personal feelings and fantism have won over objectivity and decency.
What is wrong with Obama? If you all look inside yourself, and subside bigotery and prejudice, you will see why a guy from out of nowhere became a presidential frontrunner that the world is applauding.
also, someone says that he did not win the big states, the reason for that is because of the grass roots, core establishment type of people in those states and there is nothing wrong with that. and he did win some:CT, Ga, IL. NC, WI.
And also he had to play the game of winning all little states, that is what put him ahead in the popular votes.
You are all unfair, unjust and childish. your comments come as if Obama was not voted in but he sort of appropriated the lead he has. And for you to expect the superdelegates to just turn everything over to Hillary is just plain dishonest and weak. He did not steal it people voted for him too. Br sincere with yourself
Who do you think Obma is? Bin Laden Himself, or the errand boy that has the arrogance of thinking he can actually become president being a black guy. Obma, all fanatism put aside, is a very special guy who seems to have a higher calling. a pioneer of a new era. You seem to have forgoten that Hillary and Bill Clinton are not of the cleanest types. Their dirty laundry is kept aside because Obama does want to go tat way
I have rooted and cheered for Hillary, but she is not making it to the end as it appears. But enough is enough, you guys sound like those cultists. Don't make the mistake of dinishing a big situation to a personal level. you have to learn to listen and appreciate others, then any of your decision is an adult one.
Anyways, Chris I admire you

Lunipa,
I used to be an Obama supporter. I always kept an open mind and read everything and saw everything I could in order to make sure I was making the best and most informed decision I could. I did not want to blindly follow someone because they had a way of speaking to the masses. The world has gotten in quite a bit of trouble in history following a charming man with great oratory skills.
As I read more and saw more things started to change for me. I saw a very biased media for Obama and I saw such unfairness towards Hillary. I saw little substance behind Obama's rhetoric. I started to see things I had never seen before and I saw myself as I never saw myself before. People and the media were being swept away by something similar to a cult leader. I shook myself out of the piper's musical trance. I saw the idiocy and lunacy of the Democratic party. I saw a rejection of one of the most well prepared and brilliant candidates in a very long time so we could end up with a weak candidate with a resume as thin as a piece of paper. I was in awe of the stupidity of the Democratic party. It is apparent that the people on this website feel similarly about a lot of things...especially Hillary Clinton. So, please spend your words and thoughts on an Obama site where you will be appreciated, because you are certainly not appreciated being here and calling us names because we happen to refuse to drink the kool-aid and because we have decided with our own intelligent minds who we feel is a better candidate to be President.
Oh..and by the way, one of the reasons (many) reasons I became a Clinton supporter was because of the outrageous mean spitited angry tirades I would read from the Obama supporters. I found it quite scary. It sounded so cult-like.
Please run along and get in line behind the pied piper and follow him wherever he may take you.
GO HILLARY!!

Lunipa, everyone has a right to express their own views. I will say one thing, if Hillary supporters are as you say fanatic (which many of them aren't, and are actually open to voting for Obama in the GE, unlike what the media says), Obama supporters made them that way. If anything, most of us, have been turned off by Obama supporters buying into wing-nut republican talking points against Hillary and insinuating that we are racists or harbor prejudice for not supporting Obama. Hillary has withstood the republican attack machine longer than anyone I can think of and sacrificed a great deal to be where she is. Hillary stood by Bill during the worst of times. Republicans spent 7 years and millions of tax payer's $$ trying to bring them down, but in the end couldn't find squat. This is one of the reasons why both were hated so much by people on the right. Many have engaged in what appears to be a smear campaign. Have you been to Huffpost or Daily Kos? It has been amazing to see the way liberals on the left do a 180 degree and attack one their own - implying as if they never liked the candidate to begin with. In 1981, Ted Kennedy ran for President and took it all the way to the convention with just 700 delegates - pointing out the irony here in some of the higher ups in the party calling on Hillary to drop out when she's much closer (140 less delegates and 700,000 votes of some 29 million votes cast). Also, what has Obama said or done in the past, other than running this presidential campaign that would make him a pioneer (excluding the 2002 anti-war speech)? How has he proven that he's a uniter and can reach across party lines to get things done (his membership in a church that subscribes to Black Liberation Theology and close associations with controversial figures, doesn't help him here)? How has he improved conditions in his home state to make him qualified for the top job, perhaps the toughest job in the world right now? Why do you think there are more retired military officers and flag officers supporting Hillary's bid? Moreover, why don't the superdelegates switch boats and just hand this to him now, if they want the party to unite so badly? They're waiting to see how this will unfold. Much of the rhetoric in his campaign is all lacking substance and action. Most people had never even heard of the guy before the 2004 Democratic convention. Also, what has turned off Hillary supporters and made them "fanatics" as you claim, is the media demeaning her candidacy and saying it's over or calling on her to drop out since New Hampshire (Clinton to them was old news, they want to be done with the Clintons, whereas Obama is a fresh face, young, hip and new, has built up tremendous support in the liberal base). I think that more than anything has made many people, more determined to do everything they can for her. You may be right, this may be over for her, but how can you know for sure, who can look into the future and say exactly what's going to happen tomorrow? The thing is you never know. Her supporters have the right to cheer her on if she chooses to take this all the way.

Also, DNC will not be able to ignore MI and FL since close to 10% of the democratic party live in those states, can you imagine the chaos or outrage if we had a nominee without those poeple in the states having a say in a close albeit historic race, such as this, as to who it should be? True that back in August and September of last year, Hillary as well as all the candidates agreed with the DNC to strip all the delegates (that was bad), but no one at that time anticipated this would be a close race where every single vote would come into play and it has.

This is definitely a tough but interesting time to be a Democrat.

blazer08 said...

Lunipa, I also forgot to mention something if you read my earlier post. Obama doesn't have to bring out the negatives against Hillary. All, his surrogates, liberal blogs, radio show hosts (not to mention Randi Rhode's "F***king Wh**re rant" are already doing that for him). His campaign has already claimed numerous times that Hillary cannot be trusted and that she's cozy with the corporates - all the while two of his top $$ bundlers are Oil Company executives (you can go to factcheck.org). Also, the way in which he catapulted himself to the Illinois state senate back in the mid nineties, was by making sure that his name was the only one on the ballot (definitely a cunning, intelligent politician to be sure). You can google the name "Alice Palmer." Anyway, I think what getty1206 was saying is people were following him and supporting his candidacy in droves without really knowing much about the guy. It's mainly his ability to inspire that has helped bring out the youth vote, and of course he's getting the lion's share of the African American vote, and many liberals are attracted to his anti-war stance and turned off by Hillary's "Obliterate Iran if they nuke Israel comment." Since AAs make up a 1/3 of the electorate in the democratic party, it makes it (nearly) impossible for anyone to win by consistently losing 80-90% of that base.

Here are the reasons I think Obama is a horrific choice to hold the most powerful position in the world: 1. Obama offended me from the get-go by stealing quotes, phrases and (Unexplained) concepts from popular "New Age" "Spiritual" celebrities and books. This was Cheap and Cheezy as far as I am concerned. And the biggest example of the "Dumbing Down of America" in a long, long, long while. People fell for it the same way they fall for "You can Change Your Life in 2 Easy Steps..." It was a deliberate "Siren Song" that he used the same way the New Age Self Help Spiritual Movement misled people about what it will really take to improve their lives.
2. Obama is the Puppet of the DNC: Kennedy, Pelosi, and Kerry. THEY selected him over Clinton because they can Control Obama (they think!) in a way they can't control Clinton. SHE has a Mind & Agenda of her own. Obama would NEVER have gotten as far as he did withOUT the sanctioning of K,P,K. He will be a Puppet President.
3. Obama has No real Political Achievements of his own. He has done nothing and he has only been in Washington just 24 Months. They, K,P,K, want a "President" with JUST 24 MONTHS of Jr. Level On-the-Job Training. At a time when: THE US IS DEEP IN ARABIA IN TWO, THAT'S 2, TWO WARS. The guy has NO Military Experience, No Foreign Relations Experience, and No International Relations Experience. How could he??? In 24 Months, he was just finding out where the Men's Rooms are on Capitol Hill. THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST INSANE PIECE OF THE WHOLE SHAM.
4. Obama is a Charismatic with "sweet words" who charms and deceives the people, but who has NO Substance or Experience himself. And NO, being a "Community Organizer" does not prepare you for the presidency. And boy, he sure wasn't a "community organizer" for long, was he, before he traded it off for the six-figure salary of a corporate lawyer.
5. The ONLY WAY that Kennedy, Pelosi, and Kerry can advance THEIR AGENDA is to SUPRESS VOTES--and that is being done Right NOW in FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN. If they had "Allowed" their little "Club House Rules" to count the Votes in the 4TH LARGEST STATE IN THE UNION, FL, and MICHIGAN, HILLARY CLINTON WOULD HAVE WON OUTRIGHT ON HER OWN STEAM MONTHS AGO!!!!! This is Exactly Why K,P, K WON'T LET FL & MI COUNT. The DNC does not have federal or state laws. They are the "rules" of a "club." This is Voter Suppression at a Most Treasonous Level--A Real Page from G.Bush/CHENEY/Karl Rove on: How To Rig An Election!
6. Obama is a Militant Subversive Reactionary who GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS with other Destructive, Subversive Reactionaries: Both Black and Caucasian. He is an Ultra-Left-Wing-Liberal with the voting record to prove it. This is why 20 Years of Choosing Jeremiah Wright, Domestic Murderer Terrorist Bill Ayers, Farrakahn, REZKO, Kadaffi--and EVERYTHING THEY STAND FOR-- were Obama's Choice of the Foundation of his Political Career.
7. For all of these reasons Obama will Fail as President. He is Inexperienced, Arrogant, and Megalomaniacle. He does not deserve to be President of the United States. If he were not the Marionette Puppet of Kennedy, Pelosi, and Kerry he would NEVER have gotten this far. This is a disaster.

I am offended by your implication that anyone who does not support Obama must be prejudiced or a bigot.

People measure calibre, character and suitability for the job by different yardsticks. You seem to measure them by the ability to inspire - that's fine if it's all you think the President of the USA needs to do - inspire people.

Have you watched the difference between Obama and Clinton in debates. Haven't you noticed how much more knowledgeable Clinton is, how much crisper and spontaneous are her answers?

Haven't you noticed her toughness, her tenacity ?

I'd hazard a guess than nobody here takes colour of skin into
account in their choice of candidate. I most certainly do not - and I take offence at your remark.

twilight -- good points there on implied racism of Hillary supporters by the Obama people. It's a red herring that speaks to the devotion that Obama supporters have to him. But it cuts both ways. Hillary supporters will often ignore her weaknesses (polarizing, "Clinton fatigue") and only focus on her strengths (experience, knows the issues, speaks her mind). People who are activists tend to only see the good side of the candidates they support and cannot understand why rational people do not support their candidate. This opens the door for other kinds of personal issues. If there are essential differences like race and gender or religion (eg JFK was a Catholic), then these will become fair game alongside personality differences. It's an unfortunate comment on our times. The slippage is perhaps somewhat understandable given the demographic split in support. Whites go for Hillary by a significant margin. This is potentially incendiary stuff and recalls how the OJ trial revealed some fundamental divisions.

Please, I don't want these comments to descend into shouting matches or rants. It's fine to disagree, but let's do so respectfully. Just so you know, I'm moderating the comments now, so if things get out of hand, they will not get posted.

Thanks for that link, prakhar. The astrologer in question is playing the birth time card there as a way to explain his error. It's actually a fair question, although the responsibility of finding the correct birth time lies with the astrologer. Everyone knows this election has had the added complication of conflicting birth times for Hillary (08.00, 20.00 and now apparently a 02.30 has surfaced). Obama's birth certificate has never been seen and so his 13.06 time also comes with a caveat. This introduces a level of uncertainty with the data that naturally one could do without. This may reduce the accuracy of astrologers collectively, although to be honest, the collective wisdom of astrologers can be quite low, especially when it comes to elections. 90% of astrologers predicted Kerry would win in 2004. About 80% predicted Gore in 2000. Not very impressive. I think it says more about the liberal political leanings of most astrologers than anything else. I'm not immune to the distorting effects of bias either, and I may well have fallen prey to them this time around. Still, I believe that astrologers are obliged to first vet the data so they are working with the right chart. In my case, I seem to have seen the trees more than the forest, by being able to pick off certain ups and downs in the campaign but apparently missing the final outcome. That's my own fault, not the data's. And in retrospect, it seems that the Hillary campaign chart (Jan 20 2007 9.30 am) I had suspected was wrong when I missed 'snipergate', really came home to roost here. It nows seems to me that the correct chart was probably around 8.50 am which meant that the May 2 Saturn station fell directly on the 7th house cusp. So that's just my own laziness and not having enough time to check eveything that did me in there.

I'll post some more of this chart stuff when I have more time.

Hi all,

Was feeling a little down, and I read this. Thought this was interesting:

Not Quite Yet

Now all Hillary supporters need to double their efforts (go to her Web Site http://www.hillaryclinton.com, donate, make calls. Actually, what happens in the next couple of weeks will determine whether this thing really ends or not.

If you only open your eyes and try to put the puzzle together, you will find it in your heart and mind that this man is really not only a user but has a very manipulative, calculating mind too. He did not become a community organizer to be of service to the community, he did it for political reason. He also joined his church to have the backing of the black community. He did not just choose a black church, but a black church under the wing of Wright because he knows that the pastor has a clout. All his associations are with people of malicious intent to this country. Everything they say and do, Michelle, Ayers, Wright, Hatem El Hady and that millionaire guy from Iraq supporting Rezko. I don’t believe for a minute that this couple (obama’s) are not influenced by their associations. (the way Michelle felt about this country) It’s not hard to see if you will just open your eyes to…….

But, it's more than just Clinton fatigue Chris (although I had pointed this out back in Feb in one of my comments).

It's actually Clinton Derangement Syndrome among the main stream media and the democratic party establishment. It's as though they want nothing to do with anything Clinton or the Clinton brand. And I feel Al Gore, for at least some part, blamed his loss in 2000 on guilt by association with Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, because he didn't use Clinton while campaigning. Many democrats who lost in 1993-1994 in the house and Senate, blamed Hillary's failure with the healthcare legislation, which the republicans used to defeat the democrats.

If you look at the raw numbers (note this is *without* MI and FL):

Obama
1,590.5(pledged)
269(SD)
1,859.5(total)
165 (needed for 2025)

Clinton:
1,426.5(pledged)
269.5(SD)
1,696(current total)
328.5 (needed for 2025)

Remaining:
217(pledged)
256.5(SD)
473.5 (total remaining)

It's actually closer than many in the media would like everyone to believe. The reason I said "Clinton Derangement" is also due to the fact when asked about a unity ticket, Pelosi, Kennedy both said it was a bad idea (meaning they wouldn't support it). But, can you believe how much closer it is than what they're actually portraying in the media? This is after being vastly outspent, losing AA support, being deserted by the establishment and facing a biased media.

I've also been reading that Obama plans to declare himself the victor on May 20th. Meaning he's the presumptive nominee. McCain never declared victory as long as Huckabee was still running. And, Huckabee was way behind, compared to where Hillary is now. Again, Democrats are proving Republicans are better (or at least more honorable) when it comes to this.

Well anyway, based on the current trend anyway, unless Hillary blows him out in the remaining primaries, get ready folks for Obama v. McCain. If Obama remains the media darling as he has been, I think he might actually win in Nov.

Miss America, I was at least a little beguiled when I read your post. I understand your first point, also feel he used "hope and change" a lot during his stump rallies to attract the masses. You had people fainting and screaming and crying, as if it was Elvis (it to me was over the top in the beginning).

He does have some troubling associations and recently had to fire one of his campaign foreign policy advisers, Robert Malley, for meeting with Hamas (when it became public he had done so througout the campaign).

Regardless, I am not looking forward to a McCain presidency simply because I believe John McCain is looking for a way to get even for Vietnam (having lived through it). Again, that's just my opinion and some others out there. If it's between him and Obama, I'll take my chances with Obama.

Chris, what does inauguration day look like for these 3 candidates? Can't you see ahead to those dates and extract some feeling or information about how this will likely end based on those days?

Below is a prediction from Michelle Dove, winner of America's Psychic Challenge. Please read, very interesting.
"With that said, I’m NOT changing my prediction.
-I still see Hillary Clinton as President. My vision remains unchanged.
-It will be a close race for Hillary to win the nomination with recounts of delegates, super delegates and mega delegates.
-I see a “Major” scandal coming for Obama that will greatly tarnish his reputation. Obama has many dirty secrets.
-The Washington insiders do not want Obama as President because they know that he will be ineffective. Whereas Hillary knows how get the wheels in motion and move forward to get her goals accomplished"

getty -- Inauguration charts are hard to read -- sometimes they have nice patterns, sometimes nothing much stands out. I don't put much emphasis on them in my analysis.

christy -- One person's unsavoury associations are another person's unimportant details. Don't forget lots of people can trot out the same accusations about the Clintons. I think most politicians have some skeletons in their closet, HRC included. What matters is whose are worst and more tolerable to the electorate and who does the best job of hiding them.

Interesting about the psychic's unchanging opinion. Since I'm more of an evidence-based prognosticator, I need to keep track of event sequences to make sure I'm on the right track. If I get something wrong along the way, then I need to re-assess. Since I had not foreseen the depth of the setback for HRC in May (although in retrospect it was in bright neon in the Obama campaign chart), I am open to the possibility that I have made a mistake in my analysis. But bottom line, I also have not abandoned ship on HRC, and I would not rule out a big scandal or something on that order in the coming two months that could turn the campaign upside down. I have to do some more work on it and hopefully try to triangulate the key influences and dates to watch for.

getty -- I know about the CVA and their change of heart about Hillary.

They are going to feel pretty silly when she ends up winning the nomination! :-)
