Hillary bows out

Hillary Clinton ended the race for the Democratic nomination today and forcefully threw her support behind the candidacy of Barack Obama for president. After one of the closest and most intense nomination races in history, Obama has emerged as the presumptive nominee for the Democrats and is due to be formally nominated at the convention at the end of August in Denver.

While I had known that the current period would be difficult for Hillary, I did not foresee her defeat at this time. I underestimated the manifestations of the negative influences that were operating in her chart and believed instead that she would take the race all the way to the convention. So I was wrong. Astrology has never been an exact science, and I certainly make more than my share of mistakes. Moreover, the lack of reliable birth times for any of the candidates adds another layer of potential error to the inherent fragility of all astrological forecasting. Over the past three weeks, a new birth time has surfaced for Obama (7.11 pm) , which complicated matters further. It has not been verified by official documents and it seems unlikely that it ever will be.

That said, my forecast for imminent problems for the Obama campaign still largely stands, although now they will likely result in popularity gains for McCain. While it's still conceivable that some of these embarrassments may cause some Democrats to wonder aloud if Obama is electable, it is fanciful to think that they will somehow resurrect Hillary's chances. I know that the first week of August looks extremely trying for Obama and the Democrats, but it probably won't change the basic fact that Obama will be the nominee.

One interesting development in the coming weeks will be Obama's selection for Vice-President. I believe that he will pick Hillary, as her chart looks quite strong in early July, on either the 5th or the 13th. Transiting Mars and Saturn conjoin on her Midheaven while a grand trine is formed on the 5th between Venus, Uranus and her natal Mercury. On the 13th, the Sun replaces Venus in that alignment. She will be successful in all her endeavours at this time. Assuming that the race would still be on at this time, I had originally predicted that this would be a time when she would turn the tables somewhat on Obama. Now that the race is over, this favourable time will likely manifest as her being chosen for VP.

While I may have been dead wrong about Hillary Clinton winning the nomination, I'm still puzzled by the planetary configurations around the November election. These look stressful for Obama, the Democratic Party and, frankly, the USA as a whole, although they are not bad for Hillary and, in fact, one may even read them as favourable. One possible explanation might be that the Democrats lose the election and that segments of the country are sufficiently upset that protests or civil unrest result. And Obama loss would strengthen Hillary's hand going forward and into the next election cycle. I have to do a lot more work on this time period, including sorting out John McCain's chances. The problem is exacerbated by the appearance of a new birth time for him -- 11.00 am -- to go with the 9.00 am time that is already out there.

I've found a couple of new sources of information that may shed some light on how events may unfold. First is the wedding date of Barack and Michelle Obama on October 18, 1992 in Chicago. While one may wonder what a marriage horoscope has to do with a person's political fortunes, the answer is: quite a bit. When this chart is well aspected, the marriage does well and, by inference, so do the fortunes of both people involved. This marriage chart suggests an intellectually active and publicly significant union as the Moon-Mars conjunction in Gemini is closely opposed by Uranus and Pluto. This chart also seems afflicted, however, and generally it's not good to have the Moon influenced by Mars. This chart is under heavy affliction in November with the perfection of a couple of difficult tertiary progressions -- a Mars-Saturn opposition and Sun-Saturn square. Transiting Rahu will also conjoin the natal Saturn which is often unhelpful for stability and happiness. While it's possible that these measurements indicate some private marital strife between the Obamas at a time of great tension, they also add another perspective to the problems that Obama is likely to confront in the election. It does not bode well for a Democratic win in November, but it is not definitive in any way, particularly without a specific time.

Also, I found the chart of the Obama's eldest daughter, Malia - July 4, 1998. There is a 1999 birth year circulating out there for her, but I believe it is mistaken as I came across a media reference to her celebrating her 9th birthday in 2007 in the midst of July 4th festivities. There's no birth time with this chart but using the Libra Moon as the ascendant, we can see Sun and Mars in the 9th house of the father in Gemini. While the Sun is strongly placed indicating a powerful father, the presence of Mars in the 9th is more problematic. Moreover, it is aspected by Ketu within 4 degrees and by Saturn by third house aspect within 3 degrees. That is a very afflicted Mars in the 9th house of the father. It could signify any number of things including having a father who engages in military actions that do not turn out well, to having a father whose life is linked to violence in some way. Although the chart might indicate a good and intellectual father (Gemini), it seems too unremarkable to suggest a father who is president. Of course, one doesn't want to read too much into a chart without a birth time, but it's another fragment of evidence to consider in the overall puzzle.

Finally, I wanted to briefly discuss this new Obama chart for 7.11 pm. We're told it comes from official government documents, but since no astrologer can confirm it personally, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But at the moment, it is the most plausible chart. The problem that I have with this chart is that Mars, the planet of executive power and violence, is placed in the malefic 8th house. By my reckoning, this is not the chart of a president. Having Mars in the 8th can also indicate a sudden or violent death, although it is largely unafflicted, so Obama is likely to avoid that fate. It's worth noting that JFK had Mars in his 8th house as well, but it was in much worse shape, as it formed an 8th harmonic aspect with Pluto and was in square with Uranus.

As I've mentioned several times already, transiting Saturn will station just two degrees from that Mars at election time. Since Mars rules the 11th house of gains in this chart, this does not favour him in the election. Of course, the chart is uncertain, so my observations are contingent on new information that might come in regarding the birth time, or any new campaign developments that might serve to clarify his horoscope. I will be watching the events of early August closely and adjusting my forecast if need be. If Obama is damaged by some revelations or gaffes at that time, it will greatly diminish his chances of winning the presidency. I have always thought that Hillary Clinton's horoscope looked good for November 4th and January 20th for that matter, so I'm not sure how to connect all the dots here. It could be that I'm just not reading his chart right and Obama wins in November and therefore Hillary wins the VP and makes some history of her own. More when I know it.

I believe she used the word "suspend" rather than concede, Chris. Edwards did the same when he dropped out. I think this has to do mainly with financial considerations, in that she can continue to receive donations, but it also means she can hold on to her delegates, (Edwards did)- or so I understand from reading around the net.

As you say, it may be fanciful to think that "something" will occur to turn things around so that HRC can step in. If things were not so peculiar (say Edwards had been the presumptive nominee) I'd say that'd be undeniably correct, but things are hardly normal. Obama has lots of skeletons in his cupboard, most haven't been investigatged fully yet. I can't imagine why, except that the DNC and media were so intent on having him as nominee, they must have been wearing blinkers.

Another idea tossed around, since well before the primary wrangles began, is that at some point just before the general election Bush and Cheney and their pals could fabricate/manipulate some reason to instigate martial law and either avoid the election this year. Or there could be a natural disaster, or a genuine emergency of some kind which could have the same result.

Would that fit with how you see the time arouind the GE, Chris?

You're quite right about "suspend" vs "concedes". I should have been more precise in my choice of words, because it does mean different things. As you say, twilight, some eleventh hour reversal is still conceivable, but not really likely. The astrology supports this idea that it is possible, but I believe I overstated its importance in previous analyses. Another error of interpretation on my part, even if I may end up getting the basic ebb and flow of the campaign correct, along with the approximate timing of it. It seems like too much of a hill to climb (pardon the pun) for Hillary to turn the tables. There will be damage to Obama in the coming weeks, but my best guess now is it won't be enough to derail his campaign. The November period is more active astrologically for all parties so it is this period that I am focusing my energies now. I've been looking at it for a while already without coming up with a clear enough picture to warrant an unequivocal forecast. I had thought Hillary would win in the GE, but that seems extremely remote now. I have to assume that I was wrong in that. It's still conceivable (there's that word again), and given the powerful and disruptive alignments in play at the end of the year, I don't want to rule anything out. But I have to be realistic at the same time and temper any forecast with the most likely outcome as I see it. This election has been quite complex to analyze astrologically because we don't know for sure any of the candidates birth times. That's unprecendented in recent times. I think it allows astrologers to succumb to personal biases as well. But we need to remember that they have always done this, with predictably disappointing results. Most astrologers are quite liberal and have tended to predict the wins of liberal candidates in most elections. Most astrologers predicted Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. And most are predicting Obama for the same reason: their liberal biases enter into their reasoning process. For this reason, nobody should ever trust an astrologer's political forecast! I would include my own forecasts here as well of course.

Thanks again to those who wrote to correct me on the proper use of the word "concede". I have removed it and changed the title now to reflect the situation more accurately. I appreciate your input, as always.

I've been following your blog and really enjoy it.

I would imagine it's very difficult to figure out all the charts without exact birth times. Even so, I still think you're more accurate than not.

While it is true that Hillary endorsed Obama, many have missed this fact: technically, she only 'suspended' her campaign. It may seem like splitting hairs, but according to the rules, she continues to retain her pledged delegates until the convention in Aug. Her pledged delegates are required to vote for Hillary during the first ballot at the convention. On the second ballot, they are free to vote as they like.

To ‘suspend’ is a fairly typical move by politicians. It enables their pledged delegates the opportunity to attend the party’s convention.

Obama did not receive enough pledged delegates to win this, it was the super-delegates who tipped in Obama's favor after Tuesday’s primary that put Obama over the top.

The Democratic nominee becomes official at the convention. If something were to diminish Obama in the eyes of the super-delegates before the convention, they could easily cast ballots for Hillary (along with her already pledged delegates) and she could emerge as the nominee.

While that seems unlikely given the support for Obama now, it is within the realm of possibility when one looks at the party rules.

As to your prediction that things would begin to look up for Hillary June 3rd, I believe that is also accurate when one considers the unprecedented organizing of Hillary Clinton supporters even though she has endorsed Senator Obama. She may have asked her supporters to back Obama, but they are choosing their own course.

They’re banding together, forming communities on the web, lobbying super-delegates, and working against Obama as the nominee. Some are considering voting for McCain, Nader, or trying to write-in Hillary rather than vote for Obama.

This follows your prediction of trouble in the Democratic Party’s chart. The democratic leadership believes (mistakenly) that Hillary supporters are mainly women and will all fall in behind party lines. I suspect news reports and polls over the next several weeks will show that democrats are not following party lines, they are choosing for themselves. The democrats who do not support Obama are larger in number and more diverse than the realized.

Many democrats are angry with the Dem. Party for how this nomination process has played out. They disagree with the handling of the votes in MI and FL. In frustration, many democrats are changing their voter registrations from Dem to Independent as a protest.

I believe your predictions are accurate in increased problems for the Obama campaign along with inner turmoil within the Dem. Party that threatens to split apart from within.

I hope you’ll continue to update as I’ve really enjoyed your insight.

CHRIS: Thanks for the update, and for the very honest assessment of the difficulties of predictive astrology under these particular circumstances (i.e., lack of birth times and politics as the topic).

TAYLORBATH: I'm one of those voters you speak of, having just left the Dem Party after 35 years and reregistering as nonpartisan on 6/3. NOTE please that a write-in vote is counted as a vote for Obama. So, I'll more than likely be voting for McCain, but none of us should give our precious votes over so easily... We don't want to be raped both on the way in and the way out. That said. No Obama ever!

Hi Chris. Yes we saw Hillary "suspend" her campaign but if she knew she had 0% chance, she wouldn't have continued despite the numbers. There is one possible thing for her to win the Democratic nomination, in my opinion - If something unfolds, scandal or whatever that damages Obama where he cannot recover, it can possibly swing the superdelegates to Hillary's column on DNC voting day and she can edge out the victory. After all, she is only a few hundred delegates away and there are hundreds of superdelegates. I have not given up on Hillary and yes, many astrologers who were accurate in the past are still NOT backing down. But this election indeed would be a learning period once we find out the real answers on Nov. 4 evening.

Chris - In case you haven't seen it -

There's a copy birth certificante for Obama being shown ina couple of places (at least) on line today.

http://www.mauricefernandez.com/forum_eng/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10201

That's one

I read elsewhere that it appeared at Daily Kos (pro Obama major blog)
to contradict rumours that he was born in Kenya.

How authentic it is is anybody's guess, but it states birth time as 7.24pm

Christopher Kevill said...

Thanks twilight. The Daily Kos writer never says how it was obtained or if the Obama campaigned released it. Until those details come out, I'm not taking it as definitive.

Chris, FYI. Obama has put up a website fightthesmears.com or
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/fightthesmearshome/
this is an official website from obama and he posts his birth certificate for every one to see.
time of birth 7:24 pm.
thanks!

Well, I have to say BHO original birthtime noted of 1:06PM with Scorpio ascendant of others seeing him as a liar, rude fits more than 7:24 PM Aquarius ascendant of others seeing him as weird, does things out of the ordinary. My bets for Hillary still winning are still on with my friends. Come on faith and destiny!!

There is doubt as to whether the birth certificate produced on dkos is authentic. It is certainly not original as it is printed on laser printer. There were no laser printers in 1961 and there is date of June 6 2007 stamped on the back of certificate.

Also it is not signed by anyone as to who issued it. It could be a problem for Obama if he cannot produce original certificate or some sort of affidavit from court which would require witnesses. Both his parents are dead and his grandmother was in Kansas city when he was born. I believe if Obama had original certificate he might have produced it by now.

There was an incident late last year as to someone in CIA went through all 3 candidates passport records and it was supposed to be some contract worker who got fired. I wonder if someone found something that they were not suppose to find. I remember Obama and his folks were really mad at that time. We will see how far this goes but certainly not a good start for Obama's GE campaign.

My biggest concern about Mr. Obama and his wife is, I don't think they are American by heart and soul. From the very start, they CHOSE to associate themselves with people of very questionable and malicious intent to this great nation. I cannot imagine those people invited for a dinner at the White House. That said, Go Hillary!!! All the way to the convention!!!

There's something coming up on 18 June which might rock the boat.

Apparently Larry Sinclair is giving a press conference at the National Press Club, he'll speak for the first time in public about the rather unbelievable story of what Obama and he got up to in the back of a limousine in the days when O. was a state senator.

Sinclair isn't a credible source for anything really, but if the press conference goes ahead there will be fall-out, and it'll do Obama's campaign no good at all.
